The Guinness Jazz Festival turns Cork into the Irish-New Orleans this weekend! Jazz-lovers can expect more than 800 hours of performance by more than 1000 musicians during the weekend in over 100 Pubs all over Cork! Doesn’t that sound good already? While you listen to lovely Jazz sounds, go on a music trail or take place in a master class or workshop, you might definitely get hungry – so we collected the Top 5 venues to enjoy a delicious meal during the festival!

 

1.Cafe Paradiso

Cafe Paradiso is an award-winning vegetarian restaurant in Cork that serves innovative food based on local produce since 1993. During the time, their cooking has evolved into a unique, mature and personal style, resulting in the publication of four celebrated cookbooks. The restaurant is run by celebrity chef and television personality Denis Cotter. This is the place to eat for all the veggies heading Cork this weekend!

2. Les Gourmandises 

As the winner of 2011 “Best Restaurant in Ireland” by Restaurant Association of Ireland, Les Gourmandises is a hotspot for lovers of the French cuisine. They are known for using the best French and locally sourced products and well sourced wines – always keeping a very high standard. The restaurant is located in the heart of Cork City, so you won’t have any trouble to find France in Cork!

3. Gourmet Burger Bistro

Watch out Burger Fans – this is your place to go! Gourmet Burger Bistro serves the finest Burgers made from the finest Irish meats  (100% organic, naturally reared, free range and sourced locally from producers here in Cork) and freshly baked bap with a light spread of real mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato and red onion.

Good to know:  Most of their dishes are suitable for coeliacs and they have gluten free alternatives.

4. Greenes Restaurant

The finest Irish cuisine in Cork is probably served in Greenes Restaurant and it is run by Bryan McCarthy who was awarded the RAI Best Chef Cork this year! Their food is organic, locally sourced and served in unique surroundings.  The dinner menu as well as the wine menu provide something for everyone who loves fine dining in an amazing atmosphere. When it’s warm enough outside, the guests have the chance to dine in the courtyard next to the waterfall – really romantic and calm! Soho’s aim is simple: they want to bring entertainment and hospitality to new levels. Guests can choose between four floors, depending on what kind of dining and drinking experience they prefer: an award-winning wine bar, a chilled restaurant, the party-VIP-room or the rooftop deck where you can watch the whole city. Their dishes are eclectic and international featuring items ranging from American to Asian to Continental and they are famous for their steaks (all sourced from West Cork).
