Only five young chefs are left in the 28th year of the Euro-Toques Young Chefs of the Year competition. It’s not about being good at this point, it’s about being the best!
The five ambitious newcomer cooks are going to showcase their interpretation of this year’s theme ‘’Origins of Contemporary Irish Cooking” through their menu creations. John Fitzmaurice (26), Ruth Lappin (22), Conor Halpenny (20), Robert Browne (21) and Roseanne Meehan (24) will face the challenge to create a menu that is on the one hand traditionally Irish and on the other hand features their own ideas and interpretations. The special lunch event takes place at Soder & Ko in South Great Georges St, Dublin, today at 2 pm.
But the competition won’t be over today! After more than three months, the finalists will spend the morning of the November 29th undertaking a grueling culinary skills test, followed by prepping and serving food for the esteemed guests at an exclusive gala banquet at Dublin’s historic Shelbourne Hotel, when the winner will finally be announced.
The winner will get a once in life time experience at Gordon Ramsay’s flagship restaurant “Restaurant Gordon Ramsay” and can call him-or herself the Euro-Toques Young Chef 2015.
