Good oneBy Lynn Kuehner

Dublin’s Mansion House was almost unrecognisable on Wednesday night. Once in the door, one entered the world of Ghostbusters in New York City. The 1984 hit movie seemed real in the framework of the interactive Jameson Cult Film Club screening.

What happened in this magical surrounding? Iconic scenes from the movie, such as Dana’s capture by the Terror Dogs, were acted out throughout the screening by lookalike actors. In other scenes, the Ghostbusters ran through the audience in a bid to escape being ‘slimed’. The crowd got a real surprise when the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man exploded on screen, with “melted marshmallow” pouring from the ceiling. The atmosphere in Mansion House was explosive and somehow surreal.

But the screening was by far not all the event had to offer: After the movie was over, the party just started. DJ Aidan Kelly took care of the sounds while everyone enjoyed complimentary Jameson Whiskey and gourmet burgers. Among the guests were also some well-known faces: actors Adam Weafer and Carl Shabaan, film director Kevin de la Isla O’Neill and RTE’s Stephen Byrne.

And the best thing about it: the whole event is for free! That’s why you should regularly check their website for details of upcoming screenings and register your details for the chance to win free tickets.
