What would you do if you knew you had less than one minute to recreate an iconic movie? That’s the challenge Jameson and Empire are offering film lovers and aspiring directors. Time is of the essence in this competition, you will have just enough seconds to save the world from a megalomaniac villain, rescue the girl/boy, and walk off into the sunset.
The Jameson Empire Done in 60 Seconds competition wants you to distil down the essentials of a classic movie to under a minute, consider it like putting all the best bits into your very own movie trailer. You will need to grab friends, family, loved ones and even pets, then borrow a camera or smartphone and get to work on your masterpiece. The closing date is January 14th 2016, with all entries needing to be uploaded to http://www.jamesonempirediss.com/
Last year’s winner Oliver Jones won with his hilarious low-fi take on Ghostbusters, where he managed to direct his pet dog pug into giving a stellar performance. Previous year’s winners have won with “There Will Be Blood”, “Blade Runner”, and “Black Swan”.
Judging the Irish entries will be 6 times Oscar nominated director Jim Sheridan, actor and author Eoin Macken who has just finished filming the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster “Resident Evil – The Final Chapter”, and Kevin Ryan, star of new ABC series “Guilt”. The winner will represent Ireland at the Global Jameson Empire Done in 60 Seconds final in London. The five finalists from around the globe will be competing for an Empire award and to attend the star studded Jameson Empire awards in March 2016.
To go with this, the lucky winner will win an all expenses paid trip to Los Angeles and attend the prestigious Festival of Filmmaking. You will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with Hollywood royalty and take part in workshops with industry experts.
Get those films uploaded before January 14th, and remember, to 60 seconds and not beyond!
