Discover that there’s more to the Burren than just rocks and school trips at the 2016 Burren Food Fayre.
The October bank holiday weekend will see the 5th annual Burren Food Fayre, set against the stunning backdrop of the County Clare countryside, showcasing the culinary heritage of the region. Long renowned for its unique cultural, archaeological and geological landscape, it’s only in recent years that its local produce and producers have received the recognition they deserve.
This 2-day event will see food lovers from far and wide roll up their sleeves and take part in food workshops (including fermenting, preserving and butchery skills), watch live cooking demonstrations, chance their luck in raffles and even show off their gastronomic know-how in a Masterchef competition. A pop-up café will be on site, where the hungry hordes can sample some delicious local food and drink. The Food Fayre market itself will open its doors on Sunday afternoon, when visitors will be welcome to both taste and take home some of the many regional delicacies on offer.
Taking place in the matchmaking capital of Ireland, Lisdoonvarna, all you confirmed bachelors and bachelorettes out there can rest assured that the Matchmaking Festival will be long over by the time the Food Fayre kicks off. So put matters of the heart aside, and concentrate on your tummy instead, and enjoy the Burren’s treasure trove of craft meats, artisan cheeses, seafood and sweets.
