Having a typical “Wish I’d stayed in bed” Monday? Well that could all be about to change….
Today, Monday 10th October, sees the return of the Irish Cocktail Festival, and for the first time ever, lovers of mixed drinks living outside of Dublin will be able to join in, with distilleries, bars and restaurants across the country rolling out the red carpet while showcasing the best of Irish spirits. Drink producers such as Bushmills, Dingle Distillery, Jameson and Tullamore Dew, to name just a few, are all on board and their Irish made liquors and spirits will be used as the primary ingredient in a number of specially made cocktails, available during the festivals week long run.
Leading venues from across the length and breadth of Ireland will feature cocktail making masterclasses as well as tastings, including Cork’s Ballymaloe House, Warehouse in Kilkenny, and Dawson streets Peruke and Periwig, who took home the Best Irish Cocktail crown last year, for their “In the Navy” concoction.
Not sure where to begin? How about the Club Orange & Cidona pop-up event at Wexford streets The Jar? Or a poitin masterclass at Charlotte Quay, where you will be greeted with cocktails and bar snacks upon arrival, before getting down to the serious business of discussing and drinking this legendary tipple.
