Rustic Stone, the Georges Street restaurant which manages to make healthy, nutritious food as visually appealing as it is mouth-wateringly delicious, is also the site of Bar Rustic: Dublin’s newest late night lounge bar, serving classy cocktails with a side of live music.
Last night, the ever-popular Rustic Stone welcomed the great and the good (and me) of Dublin’s media posse to enjoy a gin infused evening, upstairs in Bar Rustic. The Brockmans Gin Botanical Experience saw the army of mixologists behind the bar whip up four fabulous signature cocktails, served alongside some of the best bar bites I’ve ever come across.
A die-hard carnivore, I take pride in the fact that I will not eat anything without a face. However, after tasting some of the vegetarian nibbles on offer, including bitesize cubes of buttery polenta, I may venture out of my food comfort zone more often. Juicy mini hamburgers and the freshest seafood appetisers satisfied my meat craving while I watched the bar staff work their magic.
The four cocktails on offer were the old reliable Tom Collins; a refreshing Grapefruit and Violet Martini; The Bramble, a blackberry infused concoction; and The Perfect Serve, prepared with grapefruit and blueberries. Naturally I had to sample all four, multiple times… all in the name of research of course. My clear head this morning is a testament to the quality of Brockman’s Gin. Created in 2009, Brockman’s has become the tipple of choice for the refined gin lover, thanks to its unique blend of botanicals, sourced from the far-flung corners of the globe.
Fantastic live music provided by Jazz Café, a Croatian-Russian duo, finished the evening on a high, with guests loathing to be the first to leave. The good news is that Bar Rustic is open late, seven days per week.
