This year Kenwood, the iconic kitchenware brand, is celebrating its 70th birthday, and what better way to do it then by launching an incredibly stylish, yet functional range of kitchen appliances? Say goodbye to boring white goods, and hello to a kitchen that makes a statement.
South William Streets Cooks Academy was the location for the recent unveiling of the next generation of the Kenwood kMix Collection, and I was there to get a sneak peek at the kitchen staples latest offering.
Many of us have childhood memories of our first attempts at baking…usually consisting of sticky fingers being dipped in the mixing bowl. Mine involve an enormous Kenwood mixer, which my grandmother bought in the early 1950’s. Incredibly, after 65 years, it’s still in working order, despite not being treated too gently during the intervening years.
The Kenwood kMix series is a range of super stylish appliances which have retained the quality that we have come to expect from Kenwood over the years, but with a contemporary, bold aesthetic. Acclaimed chef Gary O’Hanlon and Kenwood designer Darren Mullen were on hand to take guests through the design journey of the latest additions to this renowned brands collection. The latest incarnation of the kMix range features a new colour palette, including spicy red, rich black, fresh cream and cool white.
In honour of Kenwood’s milestone birthday, a stunning, limited edition Rose Gold collection, worth over €1,000, has been created. With only 70 of these sets (including a stand mixer, kettle and toaster) being available worldwide, and just two coming to these shores, these uniquely beautiful appliances would undoubtedly be the centrepiece of any modern kitchen.
