When it comes to dining out, we don’t always have the cash to flash but have no fear, we’ve got the best Galway best cheap and cheerful restaurants that won’t break the bank. We’re here to tell you where you will find the most delicious dishes in Galway City for the most reasonable prices.
Biteclub – Abbeygate Street Upper
“Streetfood, Liquors, Entertainment & Dancing – All under one rooftop.” Biteclub is known for its funky atmosphere, it’s delicious cocktails and chilled out vibe. Their food is a modern take on street food from around the world; Think Mexican, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food with a twist. They use locally sourced ingredients, they throw great gigs and even have a disco brunch… and the best thing about it is that the food is affordable! HighCafe – High Street
HighCafe does great pizza, Mediterranean and Moroccan dishes. They have a 2-Course dinner special for €15. You can choose a main with either a starter or a dessert if you have a sweet-tooth. Plus you can bring your own wine! What’s not to love? Book a table at HighCafe.
The Dough Bros – Middle Street
Who doesn’t love a good pizza? Dough Bros are a Galway favourite amongst locals. They also provide gluten-free and vegan options. The Dough Bros is slightly pricier but it’s worth it for the quality of the food, their pizza is prepared to perfection and they get 10/10 for atmosphere and service.
The Chili Shack – Abbeygate Street Upper
Ask any Galway chilli lovers for a recommendation and they’ll send you to The Chili Shack. You can get a mean burger and fries for a seriously good price. Their chargrilled meat and their blue cheese dip are delicious. In fact, everything on their menu is pretty damn good!
Cactus Jacks – Courthouse Lane
Cactus Jacks has fantastic Spanish and Mexican dishes, I mean come on, look at that burger! Cactus Jacks is a favourite amongst students in Galway City. The Cellar Bar and Restaurant – Eglinton Street
The Cellar Bar is a fantastic spot if you’re looking for some hearty pub grub at an affordable price. You can get a giant but inexpensive serving of delicious chicken wings, and trust me, they don’t mess around when it comes to portions! There’s always a great buzz in the bar and you can get a nice winter warmer meal at The Cellar Bar, like the bangers and mash pictured above.
Brasserie on the Corner – Eglinton Street
Brasserie on the Corner is known for their seafood but they also do really tasty sandwiches for under a tenner if you’re looking for a cheap lunch. In fact, they have lots of yummy dishes for under €10, check out their lunch menu, it has a really interesting selection of starters, open sandwiches and cheese boards here if you want something that feels upmarket but is inexpensive. Quay Street Kitchen – Quay Street
The Quay Street Kitchen is known for serving up the best hearty soups, stews and chowders. Honestly, no matter what you order you can’t go wrong here. This is the perfect place to get a tasty meal this Autumn, it’s small but really cosy! They also have an excellent range of craft beers for any beer aficionados.
Asian Tea House – Mary Street
The Asian Tea House offers vegetarian dishes for around €10, their soups all cost under €7. You will be looking at paying around €15 for a main but the portions are excellent.
